Elvie Rise

Case Study 1

Assessing usability of the first prototype

The design team had just created the first ever functioning prototype of the smart bouncer bassinette and wanted to see if the product was meeting the users requirements.

Approach
This was the first study we had ran with babies as participants. The study involved thorough risk assessments, new safety procedures, and the whole research team training in pediatric first aid.

After careful preparation, I moderated usability sessions with 6 participants and their babies in the Elvie research lab.

I analysed the data to reveal how the prototype performed against key user requirements.

Impact
The research revealed key areas where the product was underperforming and the designers needed to focus their development efforts for the next rig iteration.
